Ukraine’s Zelensky Confirms €2 Billion Gas Contract with Greece

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday, at the start of his European tour, that he will sign an agreement with Greece to secure gas imports and expects to conclude a “historic deal” with France.

In a post on X accompanied by a video recorded aboard a train, Zelensky said that “productive diplomacy lies ahead.” He estimated the value of the Greek gas deal at €2 billion ($2.3 billion).

Zelensky noted that the imports are needed to offset the drop in Ukraine’s domestic energy output caused by ongoing Russian airstrikes on the country’s power infrastructure, adding that the supplies will be financed through European assistance.
