U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he will issue a pardon for former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who is serving a 45-year prison sentence in the United States after being convicted on drug-trafficking and firearms charges.

Trump also reiterated his support for Honduran presidential candidate Nasry Asfura of the conservative National Party in a post on Truth Social, warning that the United States “will not provide much funding” if Asfura does not win.
