Congo and Rwanda sign peace agreement at Trump-hosted ceremony in Washington

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda signed a peace agreement on Thursday at a ceremony hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, aiming to end years of conflict and establish lasting stability between the two neighbours.

The signing took place at the U.S. Institute of Peace and was attended by Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and representatives from regional states including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Senegal.

In remarks at the event, Trump thanked both leaders and said he was pleased to see an end to what he described as a decades-long war.
