China and France on Friday affirmed their support for all efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and restoring peace in accordance with international law, in a joint statement issued by Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The statement came during Macron’s three-day official visit to China, focused on trade and diplomacy, as Paris prepares to assume the G7 presidency next year.

China’s state television reported that the statement addressed the situations in Ukraine and Palestine as part of high-level talks between the two countries.
