Voting began on Saturday to elect municipal councils in nine Libyan cities, including Benghazi, Sirte, and Sabha, as part of the third phase of municipal elections.
The High National Election Commission announced that 922 candidates, including 284 women, are competing for 87 seats.
More than 120,000 voters are registered to participate.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya welcomed the launch of the elections, describing them as an important step toward reviving the electoral process and strengthening local governance.
