Turkey’s Defence Ministry said it had shot down a drone that was out of control near Turkish airspace over the Black Sea.
The incident comes after Ankara warned last week of rising tensions in the Black Sea following Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, which damaged three Turkish-owned cargo vessels.
In a statement, the ministry said Turkish aircraft, along with NATO F-16 fighter jets, were put on alert to ensure the security of Turkish airspace after the drone was detected.
