The Cuban government announced on Sunday that 32 of its citizens were killed during the US military attack on Venezuela, which ended with the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In a statement, the government said that “as a result of the criminal attack carried out by the United States government against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, 32 Cubans lost their lives during combat operations.”
The statement added that all those killed were members of Cuba’s Revolutionary Armed Forces or the Ministry of the Interior, and were carrying out missions in Venezuela “at the request of counterpart institutions” in the country.
Havana also declared two days of national mourning in honor of the victims.
