Burkina Faso experienced heightened tensions over the weekend following reports of a new coup attempt targeting transitional President Ibrahim Traoré.
Security and media sources reported military movements and increased alert levels at several barracks, particularly in the capital Ouagadougou and the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. Forces were also reportedly deployed around Camp Baba-Sy, one of the capital’s main military sites.
The developments have fueled concerns over possible divisions within the armed forces, while authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the reports.
