Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Monday that it will no longer tolerate participants in ongoing protests sparked by worsening economic conditions and the devaluation of the national currency.

An official statement accused what it called “rioters” of acts of sabotage, vowing to hold them legally accountable.

This coincided with remarks by the head of the judiciary pledging zero leniency, despite acknowledging citizens’ right to peaceful protest.

The statements come amid human rights reports of deaths, including children, and the arrest of dozens of minors.
