Human Rights Watch Says U.S. and Israeli Strikes Killed Hundreds of Civilians in Yemen in 2025

Human Rights Watch said on Wednesday that U.S. and Israeli strikes in Yemen during 2025 killed hundreds of civilians, describing the incidents as “serious violations” of human rights.

In a report published on its website, the rights group said Yemen’s Houthi movement, the Southern Transitional Council and the Yemeni government had also carried out arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances in areas under their control, including of journalists and human rights defenders.

The organisation said U.S. and Israeli attacks had resulted in large numbers of civilian casualties in Yemen, without providing immediate details on the specific locations or dates of each strike.

The report added that Israel carried out air strikes on Yemen during the period of the Gaza war, saying they targeted the Houthis, but that the attacks hit civilian sites and infrastructure, including power facilities, causing civilian deaths and injuries, according to the group.

There was no immediate comment from the United States or Israel on the report.
