U.S. President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States towards the end of this year for talks on a range of issues, particularly trade.
In an interview with NBC aired on Sunday, Trump said, “He (Xi) will come to the White House towards the end of the year (…) These two countries, the United States and China, are the most powerful in the world, and we have a very good relationship.”
Trump also said he plans to visit China in April.
Against the backdrop of tensions between Washington and Beijing over tariffs, Trump said he and Xi regularly exchange views on economic and trade issues.
“As you know, it’s important that I have a good relationship with him and that he has a good relationship with me,” Trump added.
