Trump Delivers Longest State of the Union Address in U.S. History

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday delivered the longest State of the Union address in American history, speaking for about one hour and 48 minutes.

The speech surpassed the previous record set by former President Bill Clinton in 2000, which lasted one hour and 20 minutes, according to historical congressional records.

Trump also broke his own previous record for the longest presidential address to Congress — one hour and 40 minutes — delivered in a separate annual speech last March.

During his annual address, Trump said the United States was living through its “golden age,” portraying his administration’s record as a success at a politically significant moment for his presidency and the Republican Party.
