The FBI has expanded its investigation into the 2020 US presidential election to include the state of Arizona, state officials said Monday.

The move comes six weeks after the FBI seized ballot boxes in Georgia as part of an investigation into possible election irregularities.

Arizona Senate Republican President Warren Petersen said he responded last week to a request from a federal grand jury seeking documents related to a Senate review of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, the state’s most populous county.

“The documents are in the possession of the FBI,” Petersen wrote on the social media platform X.

Earlier Monday, former US President Donald Trump shared on his Truth Social platform a link to a report by the conservative website Just the News about the seizure of the documents in Arizona, describing it as “great news.”
