China warned on Monday, March 23, 2026, that the situation in the Middle East could spiral “out of control” amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said during a press briefing that “if the war expands and the situation deteriorates further, the entire region could enter an uncontrollable state.”
The warning came after US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iranian energy facilities if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
