Seven Iraqi Soldiers Killed in Strike on Habbaniyah Base in Anbar

Seven Iraqi soldiers were killed and 13 others injured in a strike targeting a military base in Habbaniyah, Anbar province, western Iraq, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said the morning attack resulted in the deaths of seven personnel, adding that search operations are still ongoing at the site.

A security official told AFP that the base hosts members of the Iraqi army, federal police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which operate under the armed forces.

The Habbaniyah base had also been targeted a day earlier, when a strike killed 15 PMF members, who accused the United States of carrying out the attack.
