Israeli Airstrikes Destroy Two Key Bridges Over Litani River in Eastern Lebanon

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on Friday evening, April 3, 2026, targeting two bridges over the Litani River that connect the towns of Sohmor and Mashghara in eastern Lebanon’s Western Bekaa region, resulting in their complete destruction.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, the strikes hit the main bridge linking Sohmor and Mashghara, as well as an adjacent bridge in the same area.

Earlier on Friday, the Israeli military announced its intention to target two bridges in southern Lebanon, claiming the move was aimed at preventing the transfer of reinforcements and military equipment to Hezbollah. The development signals a potential escalation of military operations in the country, as reported by Shehab News Agency.

The two bridges are considered vital crossings in the Western Bekaa region, linking Sohmor and Mashghara across a valley and local waterway. They also form a key part of the internal road network relied upon by residents for daily transportation.
