Trump Seeks $152 Million to Reopen Alcatraz Prison

U.S. President Donald Trump has requested $152 million from Congress to fund the reopening of the infamous Alcatraz prison, as part of a new budget proposal.

According to the fiscal year 2027 budget plan released by the White House on Friday, the funding is intended to rebuild the facility and transform it into a “modern, high-security detention center.”

The amount covers the first year of the project’s costs and is included ضمن a broader $1.7 billion request aimed at upgrading what the administration described as “aging detention facilities” across the United States.

In May, Trump stated that he had instructed relevant authorities to move forward with rebuilding and reopening the prison, signaling a push toward stricter detention policies.
