Iran Reports Drone Strike on U.S. Warships After Cargo Ship Interception

Iranian media reported on Monday that the country’s armed forces launched a drone attack targeting U.S. warships, following Washington’s interception of an Iranian cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman.

According to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the strikes were carried out in response to the U.S. action, though no details were provided regarding the locations or extent of the damage.

Tasnim cited informed sources saying the attack was a direct retaliation for the targeting of the Iranian cargo ship.

On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. Navy had seized an Iranian cargo vessel named “Tosca” in the Gulf of Oman, claiming it was attempting to break the naval blockade.

The developments come as a new round of talks between Washington and Tehran is expected to resume in Islamabad, with a U.S. delegation set to travel to Pakistan to continue negotiations.
