US Intelligence Assessments Say Iran Has Restored Most Missile Capabilities in Strait of Hormuz

Secret US intelligence assessments issued earlier this month indicate that Iran still retains a significant portion of its military and missile capabilities, despite claims by President Donald Trump’s administration that the Iranian military had been “destroyed” and rendered unable to fight.

According to people familiar with the assessments cited by The New York Times, one of the main concerns among senior US officials is evidence suggesting that Iran has restored operational capacity at 30 out of 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz.

The assessments warn that those facilities could pose a threat to US warships and oil tankers passing through the strategically vital waterway.

The reports also state that Iranian forces are capable of operating mobile missile launch platforms within those sites, and in some cases can launch missiles directly from integrated launch systems inside the facilities.

According to the intelligence findings, only three missile sites along the strait remain completely inaccessible.
