Egypt Announces Preliminary Squad for 2026 World Cup

Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan has announced a preliminary squad of 27 players for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with one player to be cut before traveling to the United States.

The list includes Premier League stars Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, as well as Barcelona youth player Hamza Abdel Karim and ENPPI striker Aqtai Abdullah, who received their first call-ups.

Notably, Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed and Zamalek forward Nasser Mansi were left out of the squad.

The squad also features Saudi club Al-Najma midfielder Nebil Emad “Dunga”, along with Pyramids duo Mostafa Abdel Raouf “Zico” and Karim Hafez, who had missed the March camp.

According to team director Ibrahim Hassan, one player will be dropped after a friendly match against Russia, while the final squad will be confirmed afterward. He also noted that the training camp will begin on Thursday in 6th of October City, with European-based players joining after completing club duties.
