At least 18 people were killed, and several others were injured after a fire broke out in a building housing a restaurant and residential apartments in the Malviya Nagar area of New Delhi.

Firefighters managed to rescue 37 people before bringing the blaze under control.

Local reports indicated that some of the victims were foreign nationals receiving medical treatment in India. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
