Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that senior Defense Ministry official Rustem Umerov held talks with Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, over the past two days.

Zelensky made the remarks while speaking from the site of a devastating Russian strike in Kyiv, where rescue teams were still searching through the rubble for survivors.

He added that he still hopes Kushner and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff will visit Ukraine, despite the U.S.-backed peace efforts to end the war having stalled for several months.
