The United Nations COP31 climate conference is scheduled to open on Monday, November 9, in Antalya, Türkiye, and continue through November 20 at the Antalya Expo Center.

A world leaders’ summit is planned for November 11–12.

Preparatory meetings took place in Fiji from October 5–8, including a leaders’ event in Tuvalu highlighting climate damage across Pacific islands.

Environmental organizations are awaiting commitments on emissions reductions and financing for climate adaptation.

The summit comes amid international crises, including tensions in the Gulf and the war in Ukraine, which could compete with climate issues for world leaders’ attention.
