Tunisian President Kais Saied announced on Friday that he will stand in the presidential elections scheduled for 6 October.
He made the announcement in a speech from the Burj al-Khadra region in the province of Tataouine (far south), according to a video posted by the Tunisian Presidency on its official Facebook account.
President Said won a five-year presidential term in the October 2019 elections.
On 2 July, Said called for presidential elections to be held on 6 October.
