Harris and Trump face off in first presidential debate for 2024 election

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced off here Tuesday night in the first debate for the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

The two presidential candidates sparred on several key issues, including the economy, abortion, immigration, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the crisis in Ukraine, and the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, in an effort to appeal to voters across the country.

They shook hands after the 90-minute debate.

The debate, hosted by ABC News, was the second presidential debate of the 2024 election, following the first debate between President Joe Biden and Trump in June. After the debate, Biden decided to drop out of the race due to mounting pressure.
