The Group of Seven (G7) described the recently reached ceasefire in Gaza as a “crucial step forward” and urged all parties to ensure its complete implementation while striving for a lasting end to hostilities.
In a statement released Thursday evening, G7 leaders called on Israel and Hamas to engage in constructive dialogue over the next phases of the agreement. The deal includes provisions for a prisoner exchange involving Israeli and Palestinian detainees, with further negotiations planned to establish permanent peace terms.
Reaffirming its commitment to Israel’s security, the G7 also called on Iran and allied groups to halt any further aggression. The group strongly condemned the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, expressing condolences for the lives lost and the suffering endured by both Israelis and Palestinians.
The G7 also highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging all parties to ensure the safe, swift, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. The statement emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and aid workers amid worsening conditions caused by the ongoing blockade.
