US Supreme Court upholds law banning TikTok

The US Supreme Court has upheld a law banning TikTok in the US, potentially depriving 170 million users of the video-sharing app by 19 January.

Last year, the US passed a law forcing Chinese entertainment giant ByteDance to sell TikTok by 19 January 2025, failing which the app would be banned in the country.

Earlier today, US President-elect Donald Trump said he had a good discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping on a number of issues, including TikTok.
