12 people were killed today, Wednesday, in a horrific accident in Maharashtra, western India, when passengers jumped from the “Pushpak Express” train in panic, fearing a fire, only to be struck by another train on the parallel track near the “Bardhad” station, southwest of Mumbai.
The incident also resulted in 6 others being injured and hospitalized. Initial reports suggest that sparks from one of the train’s carriages, possibly caused by a hot wheel axle or stuck brakes, triggered panic among the passengers, leading them to jump from the train.
