France Announces the Creation of the First Prison to Isolate the Most Dangerous 100 Drug Traffickers

French Minister of Justice Gérald Darmanin announced today, Thursday, that the first prison with the highest security standards will be ready by July 31, aimed at isolating 100 of the most dangerous drug traffickers.
The prison, whose location has not yet been disclosed, has been equipped at a cost of 4 million euros to prevent the entry of drugs or mobile phones.
This project comes partially in response to an incident in May 2024, where a drug-related prisoner was freed, prompting the acceleration of plans to build additional prisons.
In this context, Darmanin pointed out that two more prisons will be constructed in the next two years to house 600 more prisoners classified by prison intelligence as dangerous figures in drug-related cases.
