Beijing-based artificial intelligence (AI) technology startup Shengshu has unveiled its updated video generation model ‘Fido 2.0’, which can create a single 4-second, 512-pixel video in just 10 seconds, the Science and Technology Daily reported on Monday.

The cost of producing such a video is 2.4 yuan (about US$0.33) per minute, the report said.

Video creation models are rapidly improving in terms of quality, but the said speed is still a big hurdle. Previously, free users often had to wait hours to create a single piece of footage.

Fido 1.0, launched globally in July 2024, reduced the time needed to create a single video to less than 30 seconds and attracted more than 10 million users within 100 days. To date, the Fido model has produced more than 100 million videos.
