Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced, following a call with U.S. President Donald Trump, the suspension of U.S. tariffs on Mexican goods for one month and the deployment of 10,000 Mexican soldiers along the border between the two countries.
Sheinbaum clarified in a tweet on “X” that the aim of this measure is to strengthen the northern border to stop drug trafficking.
Trump confirmed his commitment to collaborate in halting the smuggling of weapons into Mexico, noting that he will participate in discussions with U.S. Secretaries of State, Treasury, and Commerce.
