China has voiced its opposition to US President Donald Trump’s plan to take over the Gaza Strip and transfer Palestinians to other countries.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Xin made the announcement at a press conference in the capital Beijing on Wednesday.
Lin said: ‘We believe that Palestinian rule over Palestine should be a basic principle of governance after the Israeli ‘war’ on Gaza.
He stressed that China opposed making Palestinians in Gaza the target of forced displacement.
On Tuesday night, Trump revealed his country’s intention to take over the Gaza Strip, shortly after suggesting the permanent resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza to other countries.
Trump’s statement came during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following bilateral talks at the White House.
