The criminal chamber of the Tunisian primary court has convicted former parliament president Rached Ghannouchi and sentenced him to 22 years in prison.
The court also sentenced former Prime Minister Hicham Mechichi to 35 years in prison.
Other sentences include the conviction of former Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem and a former director-general in the Ministry of Interior, along with several politicians, bloggers, and journalists.
The case revolves around the Anstalingo company, whose employees were accused of inciting against the regime and President Kais Saied through social media. The public prosecutor’s office filed charges related to money laundering and conspiracy against state security.
