The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff on Thursday at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The draw split the six remaining teams into two groups of three:
Group A: Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman
Group B: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Indonesia
The matches will be played in a centralized round-robin format between October 8 and 14, with Qatar hosting Group A and Saudi Arabia hosting Group B.
The top team from each group will qualify directly for the World Cup, joining six other Asian nations that have already secured their spots in the 2026 finals, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The runners-up from each group will face off in a two-legged playoff scheduled for November 13 and 18, with the winner earning a potential final berth through the intercontinental playoff path.
