The Syrian army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reached an agreement to halt escalation in the southeastern countryside of Raqqa, after days of fierce clashes in the town of Maadan and surrounding areas.

Sources close to the Syrian government told DPA that the agreement includes a ceasefire and an end to mutual shelling and targeting.

The area had witnessed infiltration attempts, drone attacks, and heavy-weapons shelling, resulting in casualties on both sides.
