Algeria has unveiled the largest budget in its history, amounting to $131 billion for 2026, with unprecedented allocations for the defense sector, according to the draft Finance Law released by the government.
The projected spending marks a historic high, up by $5 billion from 2025.
The defense budget is set at $27.17 billion, representing an increase of nearly $2 billion from the previous year.
Total revenues are expected to reach about $62 billion, while social transfers — including subsidies and welfare programs — are estimated at $44.6 billion, with $3.3 billion earmarked for unemployment support.
