Amnesty International on Friday evening called on Tunisian authorities to overturn the prison sentences issued against lawyer Aliachi Hammami, who is detained in connection with the so-called “conspiracy against state security” case, and also urged the release of all other defendants in the same case.
Tunisian authorities had arrested Hammami on December 2, executing a court ruling that sentenced him to five years in prison.
Since his detention, Hammami has been on a hunger strike, protesting what he says is a denial of his right to a fair trial.
