Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Asaad al-Shaybani, stressed the need to remove the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the political scene, calling them “a threat to both Turkey and Syria.”

For his part, al-Shaybani reaffirmed Syria’s rejection of any plan to divide the country.

The conference followed the announcement of a comprehensive ceasefire in northern Syria, after deadly clashes in Aleppo, as Ankara and Damascus seek to revive the March 10 agreement between the two sides.
