Argentine firefighting teams continue battling a massive wildfire that has burned more than 5,500 hectares in Chubut Province in the south of the country, threatening the town of Epuyén with its roughly 2,000 residents.
The blaze began last Monday in the Puerto Patriada area, with nearly 500 personnel and volunteers deployed, supported by reinforcements from other provinces and neighboring Chile.
Wider regions of Patagonia are experiencing simultaneous fires across the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro, and Santa Cruz, after losing 32,000 hectares of forests earlier in 2025.
