At Least 110 Killed in India Plane Crash Near Ahmedabad Airport; Survivors Reported

At least 110 people were confirmed dead after an Air India passenger plane crashed near Ahmedabad International Airport shortly after takeoff on Thursday, according to local media reports.

The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian, as announced by Air India. The crew included two pilots and 10 flight attendants.

Indian broadcaster NDTV reported that some passengers survived and have been transported to nearby hospitals. Rescue operations are ongoing at the crash site, with more than 20 ambulances deployed to assist.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to provide immediate support to emergency crews and to keep him regularly updated on the situation.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the cause of the crash. An investigation is underway to determine the technical or operational factors behind the deadly incident.
