At least 20 people were killed and around 40 others injured in overnight Russian airstrikes targeting Ukraine’s southeastern regions of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk, local authorities reported early Tuesday.
According to the latest figures, eight strikes hit locations across Zaporizhzhia, resulting in the deaths of 16 civilians. Three additional strikes in Dnipropetrovsk claimed the lives of four more people.
The attacks are part of an intensifying Russian military campaign against eastern and southern Ukraine, which has led to a sharp rise in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in recent weeks. Ukrainian officials have condemned the strikes as further evidence of Moscow’s disregard for civilian lives.
International humanitarian organizations have warned of worsening conditions for residents in the affected regions, as rescue operations continue amid ongoing hostilities.
