At Least 7 Children Dead, 26 Injured in School Building Collapse in Western India

At least seven children were killed and 26 others injured on Friday after part of the roof and walls of a government school collapsed in Rajasthan state, western India, police said.

Nand Kishore, a police officer in Rajasthan, told Agence France-Presse, “So far, seven children have died and 26 others are injured.”

The collapse occurred early Friday morning while students were in their classrooms.

Around 60 students, teachers, and staff were inside the single-story building at the time of the incident in Jalor district, located approximately 322 kilometers (200 miles) from the state capital, Jaipur.
