Azerbaijan Begins First Gas Exports to Syria via Turkey with Qatari Support

Azerbaijan has officially started exporting natural gas to Syria for the first time, with the gas flowing through the Turkish province of Kilis on Saturday. The launch marks a significant step in regional energy cooperation, supported by Qatar.

A ceremony was held in Kilis to mark the occasion, attended by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad Al-Bashir, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, and CEO of the Qatar Fund for Development Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti, along with representatives from participating countries.

Syrian Minister Al-Bashir added that the country will initially receive 3.4 million cubic meters of gas per day and praised Qatar’s critical role in making the project possible.
