Baghdad to Host 34th Arab League Summit Amid Regional Shifts and Broad International Participation

The 34th Arab League Summit is set to convene in Baghdad on Saturday, drawing attention from across the region as Arab leaders gather amid a backdrop of ongoing crises and geopolitical shifts in the Arab world and beyond.

Preparations are underway in the Iraqi capital, with several heads of Arab delegations expected to arrive on Friday to participate in the high-level summit.

In a statement to the press, Iraqi government spokesperson Basim Al-Awadi confirmed that all Arab League member states will be represented at the summit. He also announced the participation of key international figures, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and representatives from the European Union, the African Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the Prime Minister of Spain.

Al-Awadi added that the Iraqi government has issued accreditations to more than 300 local journalists and 250 foreign reporters and media personnel, in addition to 20 organizations and media unions affiliated with the Arab League.

The Baghdad summit is expected to focus on critical regional issues, including the Palestinian cause, the conflicts in Sudan, Yemen, and Syria, as well as economic cooperation and pressing challenges related to food and energy security.
