Bahrain Reports Fire at Petrochemical Facility Following Drone Attack

Bahrain announced on Sunday that a fire broke out at a petrochemical company following what it described as an Iranian attack targeting its facilities.

The state-owned Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company said in a statement, carried by the official news agency, that several of its operational units were struck in the early hours of Sunday by drone attacks, resulting in a fire at the site.

The company added that emergency teams successfully contained and extinguished the blaze without any reported injuries.

It noted that specialized teams are currently assessing and documenting the extent of the damage caused by the incident.

The attack comes amid a broader escalation targeting energy infrastructure in the region. Earlier on Sunday, authorities in the United Arab Emirates announced the suspension of operations at a petrochemical plant in Abu Dhabi after fires broke out due to falling debris following an aerial interception.

Iran has said it is targeting what it describes as U.S. interests in Arab countries in response to U.S.-Israeli attacks, while affected states have condemned these strikes over resulting casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
