A boat carrying 11 Syrians sank late Sunday as they attempted to cross the Al-Kabir River separating Lebanon and Syria, amid heavy rainfall and rising water levels.
The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that three people were rescued, while four others remain missing, with search operations ongoing involving civil defense teams and the Syrian army.
The incident occurred near the villages of Al-Shabruniya and Al-Dabbousiyeh in western rural Homs, an area known for irregular border crossings.
The incident sparked accusations against the Lebanese army of forcing the group to cross through the riverbed.
