Informed sources revealed that the Cairo meetings between the mediators — Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey — focused on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, most notably the future of Hamas’ weapons.
Proposals were discussed, allowing members of the movement to temporarily keep light weapons before handing them over to the new security force expected to be deployed in the Strip.
The discussions also addressed the potential integration of personnel from security bodies not affiliated with Hamas into the upcoming security structure, as part of arrangements aimed at ensuring stability after the cessation of hostilities.
