Ceasefire Holds in Sweida as Syria Plans Full Truce

A ceasefire agreement in Syria’s southern Sweida province is being implemented across most areas without violations, Syria’s state-run Ikhbariya TV reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed security source.

The source added that the next step would be to establish a comprehensive truce aimed at restoring stability throughout the province and initiating the exchange of detainees between the conflicting parties.

The update follows a week of intense fighting between government forces and local groups, triggering a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

According to the UN’s International Organization for Migration, over 128,000 people have been displaced within days, including more than 43,000 in a single day.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Network for Human Rights documented at least 558 deaths and over 783 injuries from July 13 to 21, marking one of the deadliest episodes in Sweida in recent years.
