Chad has announced the closure of its border with Sudan “until further notice,” protesting what it described as repeated incursions and violations by warring factions in Sudan.

The decision follows clashes in the border town of al-Tina in Darfur and the reported takeover of the area by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

N’Djamena had previously accused the RSF of killing seven of its soldiers last month, underscoring its determination to prevent the conflict from spilling over into Chadian territory.
