The Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology announced that China is home to over 5,100 companies specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) applications, representing approximately 15 percent of the global total.

Additionally, China hosts 71 AI startups, accounting for nearly 26 percent of the world’s 271 emerging companies in this field.

The top five innovation areas for Chinese AI startups include large language models, autonomous driving, intelligent robotics, AI-powered business applications, and AI-based computing chips. This concentration highlights China’s accelerating momentum in AI innovation and commercial deployment.
